The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is planning a new enforcement framework aimed at improving tax compliance in the goods transport sector through digital monitoring and vehicle registration.
According to sources, the proposed system will require all commercial goods to be transported only through FBR-registered vehicles. Industrial and manufacturing units will be allowed to dispatch cargo only via registered transport operators.
Under the plan, unregistered commercial vehicles may face restrictions on operating on motorways, highways, and other major routes, along with penalties for non-compliance.
The system will also introduce digital tracking tags for commercial vehicles, enabling real-time monitoring of cargo movement across the country.
Officials say the initiative is intended to curb smuggling, reduce under-invoicing, and improve documentation within the supply chain.
The proposed measures are expected to be rolled out in the upcoming fiscal period, with further details to be announced after final approval.
