Health Authorities Issue Alert Over Counterfeit Antibiotic Batch

Health authorities have issued an urgent public alert after a laboratory test identified a counterfeit batch of the antibiotic Azomix in circulation.

According to official reports, a 500mg batch of Azomix was declared fake following routine testing conducted by a Drug Testing Laboratory. The findings prompted immediate action from the provincial health department.

Following confirmation of the results, regulatory authorities issued a formal warning and shared the alert with relevant monitoring and enforcement agencies.

The manufacturer has been instructed to recall the affected batch from the market and ensure that any remaining stock is removed from pharmacies and distribution channels.

Drug inspectors have also been directed to take action against the sale and distribution of the identified counterfeit medicine, with inspections underway at pharmacies and medical stores.

Health officials stated that the measures are intended to safeguard public health and prevent patients from being exposed to substandard or unsafe medication.

Authorities have also launched further investigations to determine how the counterfeit product entered the supply chain and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Pharmacists, healthcare providers, and distributors have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspected stock of the affected batch to the relevant authorities.
