Norwegian distance-running star Jakob Ingebrigtsen made an impressive return to major competition by winning the men’s 5,000 metres at the 2026 World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest.
The 25-year-old Olympic champion produced a time of 12:59.24, the second-fastest performance of his career, as he returned to the top of the podium following a difficult period affected by injuries.
Ingebrigtsen Returns After Achilles Surgery
Ingebrigtsen’s victory carries added significance because his 2026 season began with Achilles surgery in Northern California.
