Panthers Secure First Win of 2024 Season, NFL Fans Frustrated with Raiders’ Performance
The Carolina Panthers earned their first win of the 2024 NFL season, defeating the Las Vegas Raiders 36-22 in a game that left Raiders fans frustrated. Veteran quarterback Andy Dalton stepped in for rookie Bryce Young and led the Panthers to their highest-scoring game since 2022. Dalton threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns, becoming the first quarterback this season to surpass 300 passing yards and three or more touchdowns in a single game.
The Panthers, who had struggled in their first two games with losses of 20 points or more, saw Dalton’s performance as a hopeful sign of a turnaround. Despite their improved showing, the spotlight was on the Raiders’ poor performance, sparking criticism from NFL fans and analysts alike.

Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce faced heavy backlash for the team’s lackluster effort. Journalist Anthony Galaviz tweeted, “Terrible first half by the Raiders. Got owned by Andy Dalton.” Other fans echoed similar frustrations, with one fan asking on social media, “Are the Raiders the worst team in the NFL?”
The Raiders, who had managed to defeat the Baltimore Ravens just a week prior, showed inconsistency that left fans and analysts questioning the team’s direction. NFL analyst Vincent Bonsignore called the Raiders’ performance “unacceptable” and among the worst he had seen from the team.
On the other hand, the Panthers now face an interesting decision on whether to continue with the experienced Dalton under center or return to their young quarterback, Bryce Young. As for the Raiders, the team will need to regroup and address the concerns from fans and analysts as they look to bounce back from their rocky start to the season.
