No Pakistani Airline Meets On-Time Departure Standard in 2026
No airline operating in Pakistan has met the legally required on-time departure target during 2026, according to a performance report covering the country’s airline sector.
The report showed that only 67.5 percent of flights departed on time in 2026, compared with 68.4 percent in 2025. In 2024, the on-time departure rate was significantly higher at 85.6 percent among the five airlines included in the report.
Under existing regulations, airlines are required to ensure that at least 80 percent of their flights depart according to schedule.
CAA Takes Action Against Airlines
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has initiated action against airlines that failed to achieve the required performance level.
According to the aviation regulator, show-cause notices are being issued to airlines over violations, while financial penalties are also being imposed for delays and cancellations.
The CAA said fines of up to Rs1 million may be imposed in cases involving flight delays or cancellations.
The authority has also started recovering the imposed fines directly from the deposit accounts maintained by airlines.
The latest figures highlight a decline in the punctuality of domestic air travel compared with 2024, when the sector recorded a much higher proportion of flights departing on schedule.
