Pakistan Flour Mills Delegation Visits Indonesia, Focus on Food Security and Technology Cooperation

Pakistan Flour Mills Association Delegation Visits Indonesia, Discusses Industrial Cooperation and Modern Models

A high-level delegation of the Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) undertook an official and industrial visit to Indonesia with the aim of gaining insights from international experiences and modern technology in the fields of wheat, flour milling, and value-added flour-based products.

During the visit, the delegation held detailed meetings with senior Indonesian government officials, various industrial organizations, and representatives of the food processing sector. The discussions focused on wheat value addition, modern flour milling technology, and the production and export potential of flour-based products.

Delegation Leadership and Members

The delegation was led by PFMA Central Chairman Badruddin Kakar.

Key members of the delegation included:

  • Chairman Awaz Group Asim Raza
  • Provincial Chairman Punjab Riazullah Khan
  • Provincial Chairman Balochistan Abdul Waheed Waraich
  • Provincial Chairman Sindh Junaid Ahmed
  • Provincial Chairman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Naim Butt
  • Secretary General Munir Ahmed

Observation of Indonesia’s Food Security Model

During the visit, the delegation closely studied Indonesia’s food security system and wheat import model.

Indonesia is a highly populous country with minimal domestic wheat production, yet it imports large quantities of wheat to meet its national demand. Despite this, the country has developed a strong system for producing value-added wheat-based products, which not only fulfill domestic requirements but are also exported to international markets.

Opportunities for Value Addition and Exports

While analyzing this model, the delegation emphasized that Pakistan—despite being an agricultural country with abundant wheat production—can significantly enhance its exports through value addition and modern food processing techniques.

According to sources, the visit represents an important step toward strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia in the food industry and adopting modern industrial models, with expected positive outcomes in the future.
