Punjab Announces Rs50,000 Fine for Illegal Offal Disposal on Eid

The Punjab government has announced a strict enforcement policy during Eid al-Adha, imposing a fine of Rs50,000 for illegally dumping animal waste and offal in streets, roads, drains, and canals.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed administrative and police officials across the province to remain active in the field throughout the Eid holidays to ensure proper cleanliness, security, and public facilitation.

Strict action against violations

Officials have been instructed to enforce rules against improper disposal of sacrificial animal waste, illegal livestock trading outside designated cattle markets, and the sale of animals in unauthorized locations.

The government has also warned that negligence in implementing Eid-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) will not be tolerated.

Monitoring and security arrangements

According to officials, digital monitoring systems will be used at cattle markets to track activity and prevent theft or illegal practices. Special security arrangements have also been ordered to maintain law and order during the Eid period.

Authorities will also ensure restrictions on banned organizations’ hide collection activities and enforce a ban on the use of loudspeakers at unauthorized camps.

Cleanliness and public facilities

The chief minister directed departments to ensure cleanliness in public places, including mosques, Eidgahs, railway colonies, cantonment areas, and housing societies. Measures will also be taken to ensure uninterrupted water supply and proper waste management during the holidays.

Dumping sites near sensitive locations such as airports will be covered, while amusement rides and temporary swings will be inspected for safety before operation.

Environmental protection focus

In a separate message on Biodiversity Day, the chief minister emphasized the importance of protecting forests, wildlife, and natural ecosystems. She highlighted ongoing efforts to conserve endangered species and improve environmental monitoring across the province.
