The Punjab Council of the Arts has started taking action against theatres across the province over alleged violations of performance guidelines and inappropriate dialogue.

Officials have issued notices to several stage performers, drama producers and theatre managements following complaints and reports regarding performances that allegedly breached the applicable code of conduct.

According to officials, stage actresses Naina Shehzadi, Saima Khan and Sonia Lal, along with actors Rashid Kamal and Zoya Ali, have received notices concerning performances at different theatres.

The theatres mentioned in connection with the notices include Kamal Theatre, Munrooh Theatre and Shabistan Theatre.

The council has also issued notices to a number of drama producers and theatre administrations over alleged violations of the relevant regulations.

Officials said the action is part of efforts to ensure that stage performances comply with the rules governing theatre productions in Punjab.

The Punjab Council of the Arts has indicated that monitoring of theatres will continue and further action may be taken against venues or individuals found violating the prescribed code of conduct.

The move comes as authorities continue efforts to improve standards for theatrical performances and ensure compliance with provincial regulations.
