Punjab Expands Electric Bus Service to Layyah Under Green Transport Initiative
The Punjab government has expanded its electric public transport network by introducing a new fleet of electric buses in Layyah as part of its province-wide green mobility program.
According to officials, 10 electric buses have reached Layyah, while five additional buses are expected to be added to the fleet in the coming weeks. The new service is aimed at providing residents with safer, more comfortable, and environmentally friendly public transportation.
The expansion is part of the provincial government’s ongoing efforts to improve urban transport, reduce vehicle emissions, and promote sustainable travel across Punjab.
Earlier, authorities announced the launch of an electric bus service in Narowal, where 11 electric buses are scheduled to operate on six routes. The proposed fare for passengers has been set at Rs. 20, making the service an affordable travel option for local commuters.
The government plans to continue extending electric bus services to additional districts in the coming months as part of its broader strategy to modernize the province’s public transportation system and encourage cleaner mobility solutions.
