South Korea Fight Back to Beat Czech Republic 2-1 in World Cup Clash
South Korea staged a strong second-half comeback to defeat the Czech Republic 2-1 in their 2026 World Cup match on Thursday night in Guadalajara.
After a slow and uninspiring first half from both teams, the Czech Republic took the lead in the 59th minute when captain Ladislav Krejci scored with a header following a long throw into the penalty area.
Hwang Inspires South Korea’s Comeback
South Korea responded quickly, with Hwang In-beom leveling the score in the 67th minute after an excellent individual effort inside the box.
Hwang then played a key role again in the winning goal, delivering a cross from the right wing that was finished by Oh Hyeon-gyu in the 80th minute to complete the comeback.
Strong Finish Secures Three Points
Despite a match that began cautiously for both sides, South Korea improved after the break and controlled key moments in the second half to secure an important win.
South Korea’s players celebrated with fans after the final whistle, marking a positive start to their World Cup campaign.
