Traffic Flow Improves on Lahore’s Canal Road Following Restrictions on Qingqi and Loader Rickshaws
LAHORE: Traffic movement on Lahore’s Canal Road has improved following restrictions on the entry of Qingqi and loader rickshaws, according to city traffic authorities.
Officials said the measures were introduced to ease congestion, improve road safety, and ensure smoother traffic flow on one of Lahore’s busiest corridors.
Authorities Report Positive Results
According to a spokesperson for the traffic police, the enforcement campaign has resulted in action against 5,970 Qingqi rickshaws and 13,888 loader rickshaws found violating the restrictions.
Officials stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic management and reduce the likelihood of road accidents.
Focus on Public Safety
The Chief Traffic Officer Lahore said loader rickshaws often carry oversized items such as steel bars, iron pipes, and other heavy materials that can create safety risks for motorists and motorcyclists.
He noted that transporting such loads on busy roads may increase the chances of serious accidents if proper safety measures are not followed.
Enforcement to Continue
Traffic officials said strict enforcement of road safety regulations will continue to ensure compliance with the restrictions.
Authorities added that improving traffic flow and enhancing public safety remain key priorities, while encouraging all road users to follow traffic rules and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
