Babar Azam’s Big Bash League Debut: What Salary Was He Signed For?

(Report by Imran Sohail)

Former Pakistan Captain Babar Azam Joins Sydney Sixers for BBL 2025

Former Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam has officially joined Australia’s popular Big Bash League (BBL) franchise, the Sydney Sixers. The franchise has signed Babar in the BBL 2025 pre-draft for a reported amount of USD 420,000 — which is over PKR 118.8 million.

This marks Babar Azam’s debut season in the BBL, as he prepares to represent the Sixers in the upcoming tournament. While Babar is one of the biggest names in international cricket, his BBL contract is reportedly less than what some uncapped players earn in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Currently, Babar is not part of the national squad due to a dip in form, which has also impacted his market value. However, his signing by the Sydney Sixers has significantly boosted the franchise’s popularity on social media platforms.

The move is seen as a strategic step by the Sixers to attract global fans and strengthen their squad with one of the most technically gifted batters in modern cricket.
