KP Launches Free OPD Service After Health Card Success

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Launches Zhundoon OPD Card for Free Outpatient Healthcare

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially launched the Zhundoon OPD Card, a new healthcare initiative designed to provide free outpatient medical services to citizens across the province.

Pilot Program Begins in Four Districts

The program was inaugurated by Ehtesham Ali, Advisor to the Health Department, and is being initially implemented as a pilot project in the districts of Mardan, Kohat, Malakand, and Chitral.

Backed by a Rs. 2 billion allocation and support from the German development agency KfW, the Zhundoon Card will offer:

  • Free medical consultations

  • Diagnostic services

  • Essential medicines

A Step Forward in Universal Health Coverage

This new initiative builds upon the success of the Sehat Card Plus, which provided free inpatient care to eligible residents. The Zhundoon OPD Card now expands that coverage to include outpatient services, a major step toward universal healthcare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Officials say the program is especially aimed at improving access to healthcare in remote and underserved regions.

How to Check Eligibility

Residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can check if they are eligible by sending their CNIC number via SMS to 9930.

Key Features of Zhundoon OPD Card:

  • Free outpatient consultations

  • Free diagnostic testing

  • Free essential medicines

  • Pilot launch in four districts

  • Rs. 2 billion initial funding

  • Supported by German agency KfW

The Zhundoon Card is expected to ease the financial burden of healthcare and ensure affordable, quality medical access for thousands of families. Further expansion to other districts is anticipated in the coming phases.
