October 16, 2025
The lineup for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, set to take place in India and Sri Lanka, is almost complete as Nepal and Oman have officially secured their spots in the mega tournament. Both teams booked qualification after finishing among the top two sides in the Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier.
Nepal and Oman Shine in Qualifiers
Nepal, led by Rohit Paudel, continued their outstanding run by winning four consecutive matches in the Super Six stage, earning eight points and a guaranteed top-three finish. Their consistency and composure under pressure have made them one of the standout teams in the qualifying round.
Hosts Oman also performed impressively, winning three out of four Super Six games to collect six points, which was enough to confirm their qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
Battle for the Final Spot Heats Up
With Nepal and Oman safely through, one final qualification spot from the region remains open. UAE and Japan are the main contenders, set for a decisive clash next.
For Japan to keep their dream alive, they must defeat both UAE and Oman in their remaining fixtures. Qatar and Samoa still have an outside chance, depending on results and net run rate.
