Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Approves Study for Proposed Peshawar Circular Rail Project
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Mobility Authority has approved a pre-feasibility study for a proposed circular rail project aimed at improving public transport in Peshawar and nearby areas.
The decision was taken during the authority’s 20th board meeting chaired by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Project Scope
According to initial plans, the proposed rail network will connect Peshawar with Nowshera and Jehangira. The project is aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving regional connectivity.
An amount of approximately Rs. 13.162 million has been allocated for the pre-feasibility study, along with approval of related technical and administrative requirements.
Technical Support
The authority has been allowed to collaborate with the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology for consultancy and technical assistance during the planning phase.
Related Transport Plans
Officials also reviewed progress on other rail initiatives, including the proposed Peshawar–Torkham railway project, as part of broader efforts to strengthen transport infrastructure in the region.
Objective
The project is part of ongoing planning efforts to improve urban mobility and address transportation challenges in major cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
