Intense Heat and Dusty Winds Sweep Across Karachi as Temperatures Hit 40°C
Karachi experienced intense heat and dusty winds on Wednesday as temperatures rose sharply across the city, according to the Meteorological Department.
Officials reported that the mercury climbed to around 40°C, with dry and gusty winds affecting daily life throughout the day. Winds began shortly after sunrise and continued intermittently, creating dusty and uncomfortable conditions in many areas.
The Met Office said southwest winds were blowing at around 24 km/h, with humidity levels dropping to about 34 percent. In some periods, wind speeds reportedly increased further, adding to the dusty atmosphere across the metropolis.
Meteorological officials noted that the combination of high temperature and low humidity made the weather particularly harsh for residents.
Similar heatwave conditions were also reported in several parts of Sindh. Cities including Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Mohenjo-Daro recorded temperatures as high as 45°C, while Mithi and Nawabshah also experienced severe heat around 43°C.
Weather experts said hot and dry conditions are likely to continue in most districts of the province in the coming days. However, partly cloudy conditions and isolated thunderstorm activity may develop in some northern areas.
Authorities have advised residents to take precautionary measures during the ongoing heatwave, especially during peak daytime hours.
