Iran to Play Final World Cup Warm-Up Match Behind Closed Doors

Iran will play their final warm-up match for the upcoming FIFA World Cup behind closed doors in Turkey on Thursday, according to the Iranian Football Federation (FFIRI).

The team will face Mali in Antalya as part of their final preparations before departing for their tournament base in Mexico on Saturday.

The FFIRI said the decision to hold the match without spectators and media was taken for tactical and preparation-related reasons ahead of the global tournament.

Iran, one of the early qualifiers for the World Cup, has been preparing in Turkey with a series of friendly matches as part of its training camps. The team has already played several warm-up games during its preparations.

Tournament Preparations Continue

Following the match against Mali, the Iranian squad is expected to travel to Mexico, where they will complete their final preparations before the start of the World Cup.

The team has adjusted its base location for the tournament with approval from FIFA, allowing them to remain closer to their group-stage match venues.

Iran is scheduled to compete in Group G, with matches against New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt.

Security and Travel Arrangements

Officials have also been working on travel and logistical arrangements for the team ahead of the tournament. Entry requirements and delegation permissions have been discussed with relevant authorities in host countries.

Iran’s participation in the tournament has faced additional logistical challenges in recent months due to regional tensions, although the team remains focused on its sporting preparations.

World Cup Outlook

Iran will begin its World Cup campaign on June 15 against New Zealand. The team will be aiming to build momentum from its warm-up matches and deliver a strong performance on football’s biggest stage.
