Pakistan Declines Participation in Asian Fencing Championships in India

Pakistan has decided not to participate in the upcoming Asian Senior Fencing Championships scheduled to be held in New Delhi from June 19, according to reports.

The event, which will feature athletes from more than 30 countries across Asia and Oceania, marks the first time India is hosting the continental competition.

Organisers had extended invitations to several countries, including Pakistan and Afghanistan, to take part in the championship. However, officials confirmed that Pakistan will not be sending its athletes for the event.

According to the Fencing Association of India (FAI), the deadline for entries has already passed and preparations are underway for visa processing and final arrangements for participating teams and officials.

The championship is expected to include around 100 athletes, along with technical officials and delegates overseeing the competition.

While India has maintained restrictions on bilateral sporting ties with Pakistan, participation in multilateral sporting events remains subject to separate arrangements and approvals.

Despite the invitation, Pakistan opted not to submit entries for its fencing team in the competition.

The Asian Senior Fencing Championships will bring together competitors from across the region to compete in various individual and team events as part of the continental sporting calendar.
