Three Passengers Rescued After Chairlift Malfunction in Havelian
Three passengers were safely evacuated after a chairlift, locally known as a “Doli Lift,” experienced a technical fault in the Thai Dhamtor area of Tehsil Havelian, officials confirmed on Friday.
According to the district administration, rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the location after reports of the malfunction were received. Local residents also assisted in the rescue effort.
Authorities said all three passengers were successfully brought down without any injuries.
Following the incident, senior officials from the district administration, including Additional Assistant Commissioners and rescue teams, visited the site to assess the situation and supervise the operation.
The chairlift has been sealed until further notice, and its operator has been directed to appear before authorities regarding safety compliance and certification requirements.
Officials stated that the owner has been instructed to carry out maintenance work, complete a detailed safety inspection, and obtain the necessary fitness certificate and No Objection Certificate (NOC) before any further operation.
The district administration emphasized that passenger safety remains a top priority and said that strict safety regulations are being enforced for all chairlift operations in the region to prevent similar incidents in the future.
