Pakistan’s security forces have reported the deaths of five more suspected militants during the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, bringing the total number of militants killed in the operation to 76, according to information released by state media citing official security sources.
Operation Shaban was launched following the July 7 attack in the Mangi Dam area, where 27 police personnel lost their lives. The operation is being carried out jointly by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and Balochistan Police.
According to official reports, security forces are continuing coordinated ground and aerial operations in different parts of the province as part of efforts to locate and dismantle militant networks.
Security sources also stated that, since July 5, a total of 114 suspected militants have been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations conducted across Balochistan.
Government Reaffirms Counterterrorism Commitment
Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership had reached a unified decision to strengthen efforts against terrorism following a series of major security incidents in Balochistan.
The prime minister made the remarks while addressing a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee on the National Action Plan in Quetta. The meeting was attended by senior government officials and military leadership, including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.
During the session, the prime minister emphasized the importance of coordinated action by all national institutions to improve security and counter militant threats.
Earlier, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that since July 5, terrorist attacks and subsequent security operations in Balochistan had resulted in the deaths of civilians, police personnel, and members of the security forces.
Security operations remain ongoing as authorities continue efforts to restore stability and improve the overall security situation in the province.
