NCCIA Summons Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq Over Alleged Dressing-Room Leaks

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has reportedly summoned Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq as part of an investigation into alleged leaks of information from the national team’s dressing room.
According to sources, the agency has issued notices to both players and directed them to appear at its Lahore office on Friday.
Mobile Phones to Be Examined
Sources said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had taken custody of the mobile phones belonging to the two cricketers before handing the devices over to the relevant authorities.
Rizwan and Imam are expected to appear before NCCIA investigators and provide access to their phones. Investigators will examine data retrieved from the devices as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The investigation is reportedly focused on allegations that sensitive information from inside the Pakistan team’s dressing room may have been shared during the ongoing Test series against England.
Sources have also claimed that a third Pakistan cricketer has received a similar notice from the agency.
PCB Yet to Explain Mobile Phone Seizure
The reasons behind the PCB taking possession of the players’ mobile phones have not been officially disclosed.
Neither the cricket board nor the NCCIA has so far issued a detailed public statement explaining the scope of the investigation or the specific information being examined.
The development comes amid a difficult period for the Pakistan Test team, which suffered defeats in the opening two matches of the England series.
Following the defeat at Lord’s, the PCB made several changes to the squad and coaching setup.
Several Players and Coaches Released
The board released seven players from the squad, including Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamer Jamal, Owais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.
Head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were also relieved of their responsibilities with the team.
The changes came as the PCB sought to respond to Pakistan’s disappointing performances during the Test series.
PCB Questions Selection of Rizwan and Imam
Earlier, the PCB had also sought a written explanation from a member of its selection committee regarding the inclusion of Rizwan and Imam in Pakistan’s Test squads for the 2026 tours of the West Indies and England.
In a notice dated August 31, the board said the committee member had attended a selection meeting on June 2, where the squad for the two tours was discussed.
According to the notice, Rizwan and Imam were shortlisted following the committee member’s recommendations.
The PCB subsequently asked the official to explain the reasoning behind their selection, including the performance criteria, selection standards and other factors considered during the process.
The board also sought details of how the final decision to include both players was reached.
The selection committee member was instructed to submit a written response within 24 hours of receiving the notice, with the PCB describing the matter as urgent.
The NCCIA inquiry and the PCB’s separate questions over team selection are now adding further scrutiny to Pakistan cricket as the board reviews recent performances and internal team matters.
