Bayern Munich Held to 2-2 Draw After Record-Breaking Bundesliga Goal

Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail

Bayern Munich were held to a 2-2 draw by Augsburg on Saturday after conceding the fastest goal in Bundesliga history, missing an opportunity to move above Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table.

A costly mistake by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer gave Augsburg the lead after just 8.4 seconds at the WWK Arena. Bayern fought back twice, with Harry Kane providing two assists, but had to settle for a point.

The result left Bayern in second place, two points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Augsburg took advantage of Neuer’s early error when the 40-year-old goalkeeper chipped the ball directly into the path of Robin Fellhauer following kick-off. Fellhauer calmly ran the ball into the unguarded net to give the hosts an immediate advantage.

The Bundesliga subsequently confirmed that the goal had broken the previous record of nine seconds, jointly held by Kevin Volland and Karim Bellarabi.

Fellhauer described the achievement as an unforgettable moment, while Bayern coach Vincent Kompany backed Neuer to move forward from the mistake.

Bayern struggled to establish control during the opening half and were fortunate not to fall further behind when Juma Bah missed a clear opportunity in the 36th minute.

The visitors thought they had equalised shortly after the break when Luis Diaz found the net with a superb volley, but the goal was disallowed for offside in the build-up.

Bayern eventually levelled through Ismael Saibari, who finished after receiving an excellent pass from Kane.

However, Augsburg regained the lead when Neuer failed to deal convincingly with a shot from Calvin Brackelmann. The goalkeeper parried the effort into the path of Rodrigo Ribeiro, who fired the ball into the net.

Bayern continued to push forward, but further goals from Diaz and Serge Gnabry were ruled out for offside.

Kane then produced another important contribution, setting up Nathaniel Brown for the equaliser with 10 minutes remaining. Despite late pressure, Bayern could not find a winning goal.

After the match, Kane said the result felt like a defeat, arguing that Bayern had given away two avoidable goals despite creating opportunities to win.

Leipzig Thrash Frankfurt 6-0

RB Leipzig delivered an emphatic performance in Saturday’s later fixture, defeating Eintracht Frankfurt 6-0 with Christopher Nkunku scoring a hat-trick.

Ezechiel Banzuzi and Nkunku gave Leipzig a two-goal advantage within the opening five minutes.

Frankfurt struggled to contain the hosts, and Nkunku struck twice more just before half-time to complete his hat-trick and put Leipzig firmly in control.

Antonio Nusa added a fifth goal after the interval before Tidiam Gomis completed the scoring late in the match.

The result gave Leipzig a convincing victory as they continued their Bundesliga campaign.

Leverkusen Edge Mainz in Seven-Goal Thriller

Bayer Leverkusen secured a dramatic 4-3 victory away to Mainz in another entertaining match.

Robert Andrich opened the scoring after five minutes with a superb volley, and Patrik Schick doubled the visitors’ lead four minutes later.

Mainz responded through Anthony Caci, who scored twice to bring his team level before half-time.

Leverkusen regained control in the second half as Jarell Quansah and Moussa Diaby found the net. Benedict Hollerbach scored a late goal for Mainz, but Leverkusen held on to claim all three points.

Hamburg Snatch Late Victory Against Hoffenheim

Hamburg came from behind to beat Hoffenheim 3-2 in a dramatic contest.

Yussuf Poulsen put Hamburg ahead early, but Fisnik Asllani equalised for Hoffenheim. Bambase Conte then fired the hosts into the lead with an impressive long-range effort early in the second half.

Hoffenheim’s task became more difficult after Bernardo received a red card, allowing Hamburg to increase the pressure.

A late Hamburg equaliser was initially ruled out by VAR, but Terem Moffi headed home in the 83rd minute before Miro Muheim scored a stoppage-time winner.

Elsewhere, VfB Stuttgart defeated Paderborn 2-0 through goals from Jeff Chabot and Chris Fuehrich, while Union Berlin earned a narrow 1-0 home victory over Elversberg thanks to a late strike from Livan Burcu.
