Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sánchez has been selected to start the 2026 MLB All-Star Game for the National League, giving hometown fans the opportunity to watch him take the mound at his own ballpark on Tuesday night.

The American League will be represented by Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Dylan Cease, whose selection as the starting pitcher was confirmed on Sunday.

National League manager Dave Roberts of the Los Angeles Dodgers said Sánchez earned the honor through his outstanding performances this season. Roberts also noted that pitching in front of the Philadelphia crowd makes the moment even more special.

According to Roberts, Sánchez expressed his appreciation after being informed of the decision and is looking forward to taking part in one of baseball’s biggest annual events. The manager added that enthusiastic participation from players helps make the All-Star Game more enjoyable for fans.

Meanwhile, uncertainty remains surrounding New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler’s availability for the American League roster.

Earlier on Sunday, Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated that Schlittler was unlikely to pitch in the All-Star Game. However, later in the day Boone said the right-hander could still be available, leaving the situation unresolved.

Schlittler acknowledged that the Yankees’ pitching staff has dealt with numerous injuries this season and said he does not want to create additional challenges for his team. At the same time, he stated that if he is needed in the All-Star Game, he is prepared to take the mound after further discussions with the club.

With fewer than three days remaining before the All-Star Game, no replacement had been announced should Schlittler ultimately be unavailable.

Schlittler entered the All-Star break with an American League-leading 2.05 ERA and made his latest start for New York on Saturday, making workload management an important factor in the decision regarding his availability.
