Domestic Airfares Reduced in Pakistan Following Jet Fuel Price Decline
ISLAMABAD: Domestic airline ticket prices in Pakistan have been revised downward after a recent decline in international jet fuel prices, offering some relief to travelers on several major routes.
According to aviation industry sources, airlines have updated their fare structures, resulting in lower base ticket prices for domestic flights.
Revised One-Way Airfares
The updated fare ranges on selected routes are as follows:
- Islamabad to Quetta: Rs. 16,770 to Rs. 48,890
- Lahore to Quetta: Rs. 12,020 to Rs. 44,140
- Karachi to Quetta: Rs. 13,603 to Rs. 44,000
Additional Charges Still Apply
While base fares have decreased, passengers are still required to pay applicable government taxes and an average fuel surcharge of around Rs. 7,840.
After adding these mandatory charges, the total cost of a standard one-way domestic ticket may exceed Rs. 26,000, depending on the route and airline.
Fares May Increase During Peak Demand
Aviation experts note that ticket prices continue to fluctuate based on demand. During holidays, busy travel seasons, or last-minute bookings, fares on high-demand routes such as Islamabad–Quetta and Karachi–Islamabad may rise significantly.
Industry officials said the latest fare adjustment reflects lower operating costs resulting from reduced jet fuel prices, although final ticket prices continue to be influenced by taxes, surcharges, and market demand.
