Dust, Thunderstorms, and Rain Expected Across Punjab
LAHORE — A weak weather system continues to affect Punjab, bringing dust-laden winds, thunderstorms, and scattered rainfall across several districts, according to weather authorities.
The recent showers have helped ease the intense heat in parts of the province, including Lahore, where conditions have become comparatively more comfortable than earlier in the week.
The Meteorological Department reported that Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 26°C on Friday, with the maximum expected to reach around 34°C. Dust storms and intermittent rain are also likely in the city and surrounding areas.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for strong winds, rainfall, and possible hailstorms in different regions of Punjab. Rain is expected in most districts throughout the day.
Areas Likely to Receive Rainfall
Rain and thunderstorms may affect several districts, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Multan, Bahawalpur, and surrounding areas.
Other districts such as Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, and nearby regions are also expected to receive rain.
Authorities have placed commissioners and deputy commissioners on alert, following instructions from provincial leadership. In Lahore, water and sanitation teams have been directed to remain on standby in case of heavy rainfall.
The PDMA has advised citizens to take precautionary measures during thunderstorms, avoid open areas during lightning, and stay indoors during dust storms and strong winds. Farmers and travelers, especially those heading to northern regions, have been urged to remain cautious due to changing weather conditions.
