Hurricanes Defeat Golden Knights 4-2 to Move One Win Away from Stanley Cup

The Carolina Hurricanes moved within one victory of claiming the Stanley Cup after defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 in Game 5 of the NHL Final on Thursday night.

Andrei Svechnikov led the way with two goals, while Sebastian Aho added another as Carolina produced a strong all-round performance to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Hurricanes responded after falling behind early, with captain Jordan Staal continuing his scoring streak by finding the net for the fifth consecutive game in the series.

Carolina’s offense, which had struggled for consistency earlier in the playoffs, showed significant improvement, particularly on the power play and in key second-period moments.

Goaltender Brandon Bussi made 23 saves to help secure the win in his second career postseason start.

Turning Point in the Series

Coach Rod Brind’Amour praised his team’s effort, noting that while the performance was strong, there is still room for improvement as they approach a potential championship-clinching game.

The Hurricanes now hold a crucial advantage heading into Game 6, with the opportunity to secure the Stanley Cup with one more victory.

The Golden Knights, meanwhile, will look to regroup and force a decisive Game 7 as the series continues.
