Jannik Sinner Sets New Masters 1000 Winning Record at Italian Open

World number one Jannik Sinner reached the semi-finals of the Italian Open after defeating Andrey Rublev in straight sets on Thursday.

Sinner secured a comfortable 6-2, 6-4 victory in Rome and also created a new record for the most consecutive wins in ATP Masters 1000 tournaments.

Sinner Surpasses Djokovic’s Record

The victory marked Sinner’s 32nd straight win in Masters 1000 events, breaking the previous record of 31 consecutive victories set by Novak Djokovic in 2011.

Speaking after the match, Sinner said he focuses more on building his own career rather than chasing records.

The Italian star dominated the contest from the beginning as Rublev struggled to find consistency and committed several unforced errors throughout the match.

Strong Favourite in Rome

Sinner is now considered one of the top favourites to win the Italian Open, especially after Carlos Alcaraz was ruled out through injury.

The 24-year-old is aiming to become the first Italian player in decades to win the Rome title and continues to build momentum ahead of the French Open.

Despite his impressive performance, Sinner admitted he was beginning to feel the physical demands of playing multiple matches in a short period.

Coco Gauff Advances to Final

In the women’s event, Coco Gauff reached the Italian Open final for the second year in a row after defeating Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-3.

Gauff showed improved form on clay courts and will now aim to win the Rome title ahead of the French Open.

Swiatek Continues Strong Comeback

Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek continued her strong run in Rome and prepared for her semi-final meeting with Elina Svitolina.

Swiatek has looked much sharper in recent matches as she attempts to return to top form before Roland Garros.
