Lahore airport to remain closed on THESE dates ahead of monsoon

Lahore Airport to Close Daily for Three Hours Amid Monsoon Safety Measures

LAHORE: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced a temporary daily closure of Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore from 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM, starting July 1 through September 15, 2025, to ensure flight safety during the monsoon season, according to ARY News.

This proactive measure has been introduced in response to an increase in bird activity near the runway, which poses a heightened risk to aircraft during this time of year. The decision was finalized during a recent meeting focused on aviation safety protocols.

Airlines Asked to Adjust Flight Schedules

All domestic and international carriers have been officially notified and instructed to adjust their flight schedules accordingly. The CAA emphasized the need for coordination regarding check-in times, aircraft parking, and lounge availability to ensure a smooth experience for travelers.

Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for any updated flight timings to avoid inconvenience during the restricted hours.

Lahore Weather Update: Rain Brings Relief

Meanwhile, Lahore has experienced a welcome change in weather conditions as rainfall continues to cool the city. Rain accompanied by strong winds was reported across several areas, bringing relief from high temperatures.

According to local weather reports, the downpour helped lower temperatures and improved overall conditions in the Punjab capital.

Authorities on High Alert During Rainfall

Lahore Commissioner Zaid Bin Maqsood has directed all district administrations to remain on high alert. Emergency preparedness measures have been activated, including:

  • Immediate cleanup operations by Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) after rainfall.

  • Monitoring rainfall at 16 key locations throughout the city.

  • Ensuring the smooth flow of traffic, especially during office hours.

  • Keeping emergency response camps active at major stormwater drainage points.

  • Directing WASA (Water and Sanitation Agency) to ensure all machinery and backup drainage systems are fully operational, particularly in low-lying areas.

Stay Updated and Safe

Travelers using Lahore Airport during this period are encouraged to stay updated through official airline channels and weather reports. Local residents are also advised to follow public safety instructions and cooperate with municipal teams working to maintain city operations during the monsoon season.
