Lahore Traffic Police Introduces Sunday Licensing Facility for Rickshaw Drivers

LAHORE: The City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has launched a dedicated Sunday licensing facility for rickshaw drivers, making it more convenient for them to obtain driving licences and comply with traffic regulations.

Under the new initiative, rickshaw drivers can apply for and process their driving licences every Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Manawan Licensing Centre, where special arrangements have been made to facilitate applicants.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety, strengthen traffic discipline, and encourage responsible driving practices across the city.

According to the CTO, the facility aims to help more rickshaw drivers become licensed drivers and operate within the legal framework of road transport regulations.

He added that obtaining a valid licence not only ensures compliance with the law but also helps drivers gain a better understanding of traffic rules, road safety measures, and responsible driving behavior.

In addition to the licensing service, the City Traffic Police Lahore is conducting awareness sessions and training programs for rickshaw drivers. These activities are designed to enhance professional skills, improve knowledge of traffic regulations, and promote safer driving habits on city roads.

Officials believe the initiative will contribute to safer roads, better traffic management, and improved transportation services for commuters across Lahore.
