Oklahoma Wins 2026 College World Series Baseball Championship

The University of Oklahoma captured the 2026 College World Series title after defeating the University of North Carolina in the championship series, securing the program’s third NCAA Division I baseball national championship.

The title marks Oklahoma’s first national championship in baseball since 1994 and adds another major achievement to the school’s athletic history.

The best-of-three championship series featured competitive performances from both teams. Oklahoma won the opening game 9-3 before North Carolina responded with a 6-2 victory to force a deciding third game. Oklahoma then delivered a dominant performance in the finale, winning 13-2 to claim the championship.

The 2026 College World Series was held at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, where eight teams advanced through the regional and super regional rounds to compete for the national title.

In the championship game, Oklahoma’s offense played a key role, recording 14 hits. Shortstop Jaxon Willits led the way with a strong performance at the plate, collecting three hits and driving in two runs.

Pitcher LJ Mercurius also contributed significantly, allowing just one run over 5.2 innings while striking out five batters. His performance helped Oklahoma maintain control throughout the decisive contest.

For his outstanding contributions during the tournament, Jaxon Willits was named the recipient of the Most Outstanding Player – John D. Diesing Sr. Award.

The championship run concludes a memorable season for Oklahoma baseball, with the team showcasing consistent performances throughout the NCAA Tournament and finishing the year as national champions.
