Pakistan Table Tennis Teams Face Difficult Start at Asian Games

Pakistan’s table tennis teams have had a challenging start to the Asian Games, with the women’s team exiting the group stage without a match win while the men’s side lost both of its opening ties.

Pakistan Women’s Team Exit Group Stage

Pakistan’s women’s team suffered a 3-0 defeat against India in their final Group F match at Sky Hall Toyota on Monday.

The team had also lost 3-0 to Singapore and Indonesia in its opening matches on Sunday.

Against India, 15-year-old Aleena Khan lost 11-3, 11-3, 11-4 to Sutirtha Mukherjee. Kulsoom Khan was then beaten 11-6, 11-7, 11-5 by Syndrela Das.

In the third match, Fatima Khan faced India’s top-ranked player, Sreeja Akula, and lost 11-4, 11-4, 11-5.

Pakistan had a similar result in its earlier group matches. Aleena Khan, Kulsoom Khan and Nosheen Aslam were defeated in straight games against Singapore.

Fatima Khan, Kulsoom Khan and Nosheen Aslam also lost their matches against Indonesia, leaving Pakistan without a game victory in the group stage.

Pakistan Men Lose Opening Matches

The men’s team also faced a difficult beginning to its Asian Games campaign.

Pakistan suffered 3-0 defeats against Iran and Indonesia in its two matches on Sunday.

Taha Bilal and Abbas Khan were unable to win a game in either tie, while Mohammad Khan managed to take one game against Indonesia’s Mohammad Negara.

Pakistan’s men’s team was scheduled to face India later on Monday as the competition continued.
