Pakistani and International Climbers Achieve Successful Summit of Broad Peak and Khosar Gang
Two separate mountaineering expeditions have successfully reached the summits of Broad Peak and Khosar Gang, marking another milestone for Pakistan’s adventure tourism and high-altitude climbing community.
Eight Climbers Summit Broad Peak
According to Karakoram Expeditions, an eight-member team successfully climbed Broad Peak (8,051 metres) in the Karakoram mountain range.
The team included:
- Juan Pablo Toro (Argentina)
- Ahmad Baig (Pakistan)
- Rizwan Dad
- Waqar Ali
- Mansoor Karim
- Nawaz Ali Khan
- Mirza Ali
- Zaman Karim
The expedition followed a newly selected route that shortened the ascent by avoiding parts of the traditional climbing path. The team began its summit push from Camp III early on Sunday and successfully reached the summit later that day.
Women’s Expedition Reaches Khosar Gang Summit
In another achievement, the Alpine Club of Pakistan announced that its Second Women’s Khosar Gang Expedition successfully reached the summit of Khosar Gang (6,040 metres) in the Shigar Valley.
The expedition included eight climbers from different regions of Pakistan:
- Zeba Batool (Gilgit-Baltistan)
- Bibi Afzoon (Gilgit-Baltistan)
- Haiqa Ghazi (Islamabad)
- Ammara Sharif (Islamabad)
- Maria Khan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)
- Bisma Hassan (Punjab)
- Sadia Maqbool (Punjab)
- Bibi Malka (Balochistan)
Promoting Women’s Participation in Mountaineering
The expedition was organized by the Alpine Club of Pakistan to encourage greater participation of women in mountaineering, adventure sports, and outdoor leadership.
A documentary team also accompanied the climbers to record the journey and highlight the achievements of the participants.
The selection process was overseen by a committee of experienced mountaineers led by renowned Pakistani climber Naila Kiani.

The expedition received technical guidance from experienced high-altitude climbers:

- Sadiq Hussain Sadpara
- Ilyas Hushay
Rope-fixing on the mountain was carried out by Qauid Shigri, helping ensure a safe climbing route for the team.
Future Environmental Initiative
The Alpine Club of Pakistan congratulated both expeditions and emphasized the importance of promoting adventure tourism, teamwork, and responsible mountaineering.
The club also announced plans to organize a K2 Baltoro Cleanup Expedition in September, aiming to support environmental conservation and encourage sustainable tourism in Pakistan’s northern mountain regions.
