PCB Installs Advanced Bowling Machine at National Cricket Academy

Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail

Lahore, July 6, 2026: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has installed a new Trueman 3 bowling machine at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to provide players with advanced training and realistic match-practice sessions.

The latest technology is designed to simulate real bowling actions, helping batters improve their timing, shot selection, and decision-making in conditions that closely resemble competitive matches.

Realistic Match Simulation

One of the key features of the Trueman 3 bowling machine is its high-contrast LED display, which shows an animated bowler performing a realistic bowling action. The animation is synchronized with the exact moment the ball is released, allowing batters to react just as they would against a real bowler.

The machine enables coaches to customize several bowling variables, including:

  • Line and length
  • Bowling speed
  • Swing movement
  • Bounce and delivery height

It can also store and replay individual deliveries, complete overs, or bowling spells, allowing players to practice against different match scenarios.

Aqib Javed Highlights the Benefits

PCB Director of High Performance Aqib Javed said the Trueman 3 represents the latest training technology and noted that the PCB is the first cricket board to introduce this system.

According to him, traditional bowling machines often make it difficult for batters to judge the release point and timing of deliveries. The new system addresses this challenge by displaying a realistic bowling action before the ball is delivered, allowing players to prepare more naturally.

He added that the machine can be programmed according to the specific training requirements of each batter, making practice sessions more effective and closer to actual match conditions.

Salman Ali Agha Welcomes New Technology

Pakistan all-rounder Salman Ali Agha, who recently trained with the new machine at the National Cricket Academy, said the technology provides a more realistic batting experience.

He explained that modern cricket continues to evolve with new techniques and innovative shot-making, and training tools such as the Trueman 3 can help players adapt to those demands.

According to Salman, the synchronized bowling action makes it feel as though a real bowler is delivering the ball, helping batters improve their reaction time, rhythm, and overall preparation for competitive cricket.

Boost for Player Development

The installation of the Trueman 3 bowling machine is part of the PCB’s ongoing efforts to modernize player development and provide national and emerging cricketers with access to advanced training technology. The new system is expected to enhance batting preparation and support players as they prepare for domestic and international competitions.
