Punjab to Introduce Online Marking System for Board Examinations

The Punjab government has announced a new step toward modernizing the board examination system by introducing online screen marking on a pilot basis during the upcoming supplementary examinations.

The initiative was announced by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat during a meeting with the newly appointed chairpersons of education boards, where he reviewed plans to improve the examination process through technology and stronger oversight.

Digital Reforms in Examination System

The education minister directed all examination boards to speed up ongoing reforms and adopt modern methods aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and accuracy in board examinations.

He said the pilot project for online screen marking is expected to help strengthen the paper evaluation process while reducing the chances of human error.

Focus on Transparency and Fair Assessment

During the meeting, the minister emphasized that maintaining fairness throughout the examination process is a top priority.

He instructed board officials to ensure high standards in question paper preparation, answer sheet marking, and examination supervision, adding that education boards play a vital role in protecting the academic future of students.

He also called for strict monitoring to prevent any form of unfair practices during examinations.

Increased Monitoring of Examination Centers

The minister directed chairpersons of education boards to regularly visit marking centers and closely monitor examination centers where additional supervision may be required.

He also instructed authorities to take appropriate action in cases where irregularities are identified during the paper-checking process.

Better Facilities for Students

To improve the examination environment, officials have been directed to ensure that all examination centers provide essential facilities, including:

  • Reliable electricity supply
  • Proper lighting
  • Functional fans
  • Clean drinking water

The minister said providing a comfortable and well-managed environment would help students complete their examinations without unnecessary inconvenience.

Commitment to Education Reforms

The Punjab government says these measures are part of its broader plan to modernize the education system by promoting transparency, accountability, and the effective use of technology in public examinations.

The reforms aim to strengthen public confidence in the board examination process while ensuring a fair assessment system for students across the province.
