BUFFALO: The Buffalo Sabres have traded defenseman Michael Kesselring to the San Jose Sharks in a deal involving a first-round draft pick swap.

Under the agreement, Buffalo sent the 26-year-old Kesselring along with the 27th overall pick in the upcoming NHL Draft to San Jose in exchange for the 20th overall selection.

Buffalo originally acquired Kesselring in 2025, expecting him to strengthen their defensive depth with size and physical presence.

However, his impact was limited due to injuries. He recorded two assists in 34 games and appeared briefly in the playoffs.

Over his NHL career, Kesselring has played for Arizona, Utah, and Buffalo, recording 12 goals and 43 assists in 190 games.
