PCB Considers Ali Raza for Proposed US-Based Development Program
Report: Imran Sohail
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering young fast bowler Ali Raza for a proposed development program in the United States aimed at helping emerging players improve their skills through advanced coaching and modern training methods.
Pakistan’s white-ball head coach Mike Hesson recently revealed that the board is exploring plans to send a group of players overseas for specialized training. The proposed program would focus on areas such as power-hitting, fitness development, injury management, and performance enhancement.
Ali Raza, 18, is widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s promising pace bowling talents. He gained attention during Pakistan’s successful ACC Under-19 Asia Cup campaign, where he delivered notable performances, including an important spell in the final against India.
The right-arm pacer further strengthened his credentials in the Pakistan Super League earlier this year. Representing Peshawar Zalmi, he claimed 10 wickets in five matches and showcased his ability to generate pace and movement.
Although he has not yet made his international debut, Raza has been included in Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming Asian Games. The PCB is focused on managing his development carefully as he progresses toward higher levels of competition.
Speaking about the youngster, Mike Hesson emphasized the importance of building the physical strength required for international cricket.
According to Hesson, the goal is to help Ali Raza develop the endurance needed to maintain his pace and effectiveness across longer spells while handling the physical demands of elite-level competition.
The proposed US-based program is expected to provide selected players with access to specialist coaches, sports science resources, and a high-performance training environment.
While the PCB has not yet confirmed the final group of participants, Ali Raza’s inclusion in discussions highlights the board’s long-term commitment to developing young talent for future international success.
