Senate Committee Orders Detailed Probe Into High-Profile Drug Case

The Senate Standing Committee on Interior has directed authorities to conduct a detailed investigation into a high-profile narcotics case involving an alleged major cocaine supplier known as “Pinky”.

During the meeting, lawmakers instructed the Interior Ministry to provide complete records related to the case, including details of the alleged drug supply network and individuals connected to it, if supported by official evidence.

Committee members emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, stating that no one should be exempt from investigation if credible evidence exists.

One senator also suggested that drug testing could be considered during the inquiry process and volunteered to undergo testing himself to encourage accountability.

Authorities from the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and other relevant institutions have been asked to submit detailed reports regarding the alleged narcotics distribution network, operational findings, and investigation records.

The committee directed all concerned departments to cooperate fully and provide comprehensive documentation to help determine the overall scope of the case.

Lawmakers said the purpose of the inquiry is to identify the complete supply chain, strengthen anti-narcotics enforcement, and ensure legal action against anyone proven to be involved in illegal drug activities.

The committee also instructed ANF officials to attend the next meeting with a detailed briefing and supporting evidence related to the investigation.

Members further stressed the need for stronger action against narcotics-related crimes in Pakistan and reiterated support for a strict, transparent, and law-based investigation process.
