West Indies Take 155-Run Lead Over Pakistan at Stumps on Day 3 of Trinidad Test

West Indies finished the third day of the opening Test against Pakistan with a 155-run lead, reaching 126/7 in their second innings at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
After trailing by 29 runs on the first innings, Pakistan’s bowlers fought back strongly to keep the match evenly balanced heading into the fourth day.
Pakistan Suffers Late Batting Collapse
Pakistan resumed the day in a strong position but lost momentum after a dramatic batting collapse.
The visitors were comfortably placed at 244/3 before losing their remaining seven wickets for just 38 runs, eventually being bowled out for 282 in reply to West Indies’ first-innings total of 311.
Captain Shan Masood was the standout performer for Pakistan, scoring 109 runs, his seventh Test century. His innings included 12 boundaries and came from 184 deliveries.
Justin Greaves Stars With the Ball
West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves played a key role with the ball, claiming career-best Test figures of 5/27.
His disciplined line and length triggered Pakistan’s collapse, dismissing several middle and lower-order batters after Shan Masood’s wicket.
Pakistan Bowlers Respond
Despite conceding a first-innings lead, Pakistan’s bowlers produced an impressive response in the final session.
Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas led the attack with accurate bowling, taking key wickets to put pressure on the West Indies batting lineup. Captain Babar Azam also contributed in the field with a notable diving catch to dismiss Justin Greaves.
Speaking after the day’s play, Pakistan bowling coach Umar Gul praised Abbas’ performance, saying the experienced pacer led the bowling attack effectively while guiding the younger players.
West Indies Hold Narrow Advantage
By the close of play, West Indies were 126/7, extending their overall lead to 155 runs.
Veteran pacer Kemar Roach remained at the crease, while Shamar Joseph added valuable late runs with an unbeaten 22, including three sixes.
Day 4 Set for Crucial Contest
With three wickets remaining and a lead of 155 runs, West Indies will aim to extend their advantage on the fourth day. Pakistan, meanwhile, will look to wrap up the innings quickly and set up a manageable run chase in what promises to be an important phase of the Test match.
