Nepal Stun West Indies to Clinch Historic T20I Series in Sharjah

Nepal Create History with Stunning Series Win Over West Indies

Nepal cricket achieved a major milestone last night in Sharjah, defeating two-time world champions West Indies by a convincing 90 runs to claim a memorable T20I series victory.

The triumph gave Nepal an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series and showcased their rapid progress on the international stage. For the West Indies, it marked another difficult outing as their struggles in the shortest format continued.

Strong Batting Display
Batting first, Nepal set a competitive total of 173 for 6 in 20 overs. Opener Aasif Sheikh played a composed knock of 68* while Sundeep Jora added a quickfire 63. Their partnership provided the platform for Nepal to push the West Indies on the back foot early in the game.

West Indies Collapse Under Pressure
Chasing 174, the West Indies never found momentum and were bowled out for just 83. Jason Holder (21), Hakeem Auguste (17), and Ameer Jangoo (16) offered some resistance, but Nepal’s disciplined bowling ensured there was no way back for the visitors.

Record-Breaking Moment for Nepal
The 90-run victory is the largest margin of success by an Associate nation over a Full Member in T20Is, surpassing Afghanistan’s 81-run win against Zimbabwe in 2016. It also marked Nepal’s first-ever bilateral T20I series win against a Full Member side.

This result highlights Nepal’s growing stature in world cricket. While they missed out on the 2025 Asia Cup, their back-to-back victories against a team of West Indies’ calibre underline that Nepal are now a force to be reckoned with.

With young talents stepping up and the team showing consistency, Nepal’s cricketing future looks brighter than ever.
