Traffic Plan Finalized for Lahore’s Cattle Markets Ahead of Eid ul Adha

Lahore Traffic Police have finalized a comprehensive traffic management plan for six cattle markets established across the city ahead of Eid ul Adha, aiming to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.

According to Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi, more than 200 traffic wardens will be deployed across all designated cattle market sites to assist citizens, traders, and visitors.

He said zonal officers from the City and Sadar divisions will supervise arrangements, while six Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 18 sector in-charges, and over 200 traffic wardens have been assigned duties for the special operation.

To deal with congestion and illegal parking, six forklifts will also remain active to remove encroachments and clear blocked routes around cattle markets.

Restrictions on Certain Vehicles

In a separate decision, traffic authorities have imposed a complete ban on loader rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws on Canal Road Lahore to improve road safety and reduce traffic congestion.

Officials said additional personnel have been deployed at key points including Dharampura, Mughalpura, and Thokar Niaz Baig to enforce the restrictions effectively.

The CTO stated that unsafe transportation practices, such as carrying heavy materials like iron rods and steel pipes on loader rickshaws, pose serious risks to commuters and will not be allowed.

Action has also been ordered against auto-rickshaw drivers allowing passengers to sit outside designated seating areas.

Security Measures for Eid Season

Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that security arrangements for cattle markets, traders, and buyers have been further strengthened ahead of Eid ul Adha to ensure public safety and orderly conduct across the city.
