Petrol and Diesel Prices Expected to Rise in Pakistan from July 18

Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are expected to increase in the upcoming fortnightly fuel price review, with high-speed diesel (HSD) likely to witness the biggest jump due to higher international oil prices.

According to preliminary estimates, HSD prices may rise by up to Rs. 40 per litre, while petrol could become around Rs. 10 per litre more expensive. If approved by the government, the revised fuel prices will take effect from July 18, 2026.

To reduce the impact on consumers, officials are reportedly considering lowering the petroleum levy, which could help soften the expected increase.

Reports of Increased Fuel Buying

Ahead of the expected price revision, reports suggest that fuel purchases have risen in several areas, with some filling stations experiencing temporary supply shortages. However, authorities have assured the public that Pakistan’s overall petroleum stocks remain sufficient to meet current demand.

The situation was reviewed during a meeting of the National Committee on Monitoring and Coordination (NCMC), attended by representatives from the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), and other relevant government departments.

According to officials, petroleum sales during the first half of July were noticeably higher than usual. OGRA’s assessment indicated that the increase in demand may be linked to stockpiling by some dealers ahead of the expected price adjustment.

Authorities Order Market Monitoring

The committee directed OGRA to strengthen market monitoring and take action against any unlawful market practices. Provincial governments were also instructed to inspect fuel stations and ensure there are no artificial shortages or disruptions in supply.

Officials emphasized that the country has adequate petroleum reserves and advised consumers to avoid unnecessary panic buying. Oil marketing companies have also been directed to maintain uninterrupted fuel supplies across Pakistan.
