July 23, 2026: Nestlé S.A., the majority shareholder of Nestlé Pakistan, has announced plans to establish a new global company for its waters and premium beverages business through a 50-50 joint venture with private equity firm Platinum Equity.

According to a notification submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the new company will be named Peranel. The transaction is expected to be completed during the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, employee consultations, and other required formalities.

New Company to Manage Global Water Brands

Peranel will oversee a portfolio of more than 30 brands available across 120 countries. The portfolio includes internationally recognized bottled water and premium beverage brands such as:

  • S.Pellegrino
  • Perrier
  • Acqua Panna
  • Nestlé Pure Life
  • Several regional water brands

The company will be headquartered in Paris, with Muriel Lienau, the current CEO of Nestlé’s Waters and Premium Beverages business, expected to lead the new organization.

What It Means for Pakistan

Nestlé Pakistan stated that its local water business is included in the global transaction. However, any implementation in Pakistan will depend on the completion of definitive agreements as well as the necessary corporate and regulatory approvals.

At this stage, the company has indicated that it intends to establish a local entity, while any further material developments will be announced through official channels.

Focus on Future Growth

According to Nestlé, the formation of Peranel is intended to create a dedicated business focused on expanding its presence in the global water and premium beverages market. The company believes the joint venture will combine the strengths and operational expertise of both Nestlé and Platinum Equity to support future growth and innovation.

Further updates are expected as the transaction progresses through the approval process.
