Rain and Thunderstorms Forecast Across Pakistan After Recent Heat
Pakistan is expected to experience a change in weather as monsoon currents continue to enter the upper parts of the country, while a westerly wave is likely to affect the region during the weekend.
According to the Met Office, the westerly system is expected to strengthen on Monday, September 14, bringing rain, thunderstorms and occasional heavy showers to several parts of the country.
The weather system is expected to remain active in different regions until September 17, with intermittent breaks between spells.
Rain Forecast for Kashmir
Rain, wind and thunderstorms are expected across several areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir from September 12 to 17.
The affected areas include Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur.
Some locations may also receive isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms.
Islamabad and Punjab to Receive Rain
Several areas of Islamabad and northern Punjab are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms between September 12 and 17.
The forecast covers Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang and Attock, where isolated heavy showers and hailstorms are also possible.
In other parts of Punjab, including Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur, Okara, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan, rain and thunderstorms are expected from the evening or night of September 14 through September 17.
Other surrounding districts may also experience similar conditions.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Likely to See Widespread Showers
Rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are forecast across a large number of districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from September 12 to 17.
The forecast includes Peshawar, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Hangu, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra and Abbottabad.
Rain is also expected in Haripur, Karak, Tank, Lakki Marwat, D.I. Khan, Bannu and Waziristan, with isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms possible in some areas.
Gilgit-Baltistan Weather to Remain Unsettled
Several parts of Gilgit-Baltistan are also expected to receive rain and thunderstorms from September 12 to 17.
The affected areas include Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar.
Moderate rainfall with isolated heavy showers is possible during the forecast period.
Rain Expected in Karachi and Other Sindh Areas
Most parts of Sindh are expected to remain hot and humid during the forecast period.
However, rain and thunderstorms are likely in several areas from the evening or night of September 13 to September 16.
The forecast includes Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Thatta, Badin and Karachi, along with surrounding areas. Some locations could receive isolated heavy rainfall.
Balochistan Mostly Hot and Humid
Most parts of Balochistan are expected to remain hot and humid.
However, rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are likely in Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel and nearby areas from the evening or night of September 13 to September 16.
Weather Shift Expected After Hot Spell
The latest forecast indicates that the recent hot conditions may be followed by a period of more unsettled weather across several regions.
With rain and thunderstorms expected in different parts of the country over the coming days, residents in vulnerable mountainous and low-lying areas should remain alert to changing weather conditions.
