Pakistan Conducts Airstrikes on Suspected Terrorist Hideouts Near Afghan Border

Pakistan has carried out airstrikes against what the government described as terrorist camps and hideouts in the border region with Afghanistan.

The Information Ministry said the strikes targeted locations linked to militant organisations that Pakistan holds responsible for recent terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the ministry, more than 28 terrorists were killed in the operation.

Intelligence-Based Operation

The government said the airstrikes followed a planned intelligence-based ground operation conducted by security forces in areas around Kohat, Hangu and Thall.

According to the Information Ministry, security agencies used intelligence to identify and selectively target alleged militant camps and hideouts associated with Fitna al-Khawarij and affiliated groups.

The ministry described the airstrikes as “calibrated” and said the targets were selected with precision.

Reports of Casualties in Afghanistan

Afghan officials have reported a different casualty figure. Reuters reported that Afghan authorities said at least three civilians were killed and four others injured in the strikes in Kunar and Paktika provinces.

The differing accounts highlight that casualty figures and details of the strikes remain subject to competing claims from the two sides.

The latest strikes come amid renewed security tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border following a series of militant attacks in Pakistan.

Pakistan has previously accused militant groups operating from Afghan territory of being involved in attacks inside the country, while Afghan authorities have rejected such allegations.
