PTA Inspects 115 Telecom Sites Across Pakistan to Improve Mobile Services

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has inspected 115 telecom sites across the country as part of its ongoing efforts to improve mobile network coverage, service quality and connectivity for consumers.

The inspections were carried out by the authority’s zonal teams between September 30 and October 7, 2026, covering multiple cities and regions of Pakistan.

According to the PTA, the monitoring exercise focused on network performance, voice calls, mobile internet services, coverage and the availability of backup power systems at telecom sites.

Lahore Leads Telecom Site Inspections

Lahore recorded the highest number of inspections, with PTA teams checking 39 telecom sites during the monitoring period.

The city-wise breakdown of inspections was as follows:

  • Lahore: 39 sites
  • Karachi: 17 sites
  • Sukkur: 16 sites
  • Multan: 14 sites
  • Rawalpindi: 14 sites
  • Quetta: 8 sites
  • Abbottabad: 4 sites
  • Gilgit: 3 sites

The authority said improvements in mobile service quality had been observed in several of the areas covered by the inspections.

PTA Checks Call Drops and Internet Performance

The field monitoring programme aimed to identify common problems experienced by mobile users, including failed call connections, dropped calls, slow internet speeds and gaps in network coverage.

PTA teams also reviewed consumer feedback and complaints to gain a clearer understanding of connectivity issues affecting different communities.

The authority said it was engaging with local administrations, elected representatives and residents to help identify service problems and support their resolution.

Mobile Operators Asked to Fix Network Issues

Where inspections reveal technical faults or other shortcomings at telecom towers and sites, the relevant mobile operators are directed to take corrective action.

These measures are intended to address network deficiencies and support more reliable mobile services.

The PTA said it would continue monitoring mobile operators and strengthening regulatory oversight to ensure that consumer complaints and service-related issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner.

The ongoing inspections form part of broader efforts to improve the reliability, coverage and availability of mobile telecommunications services across Pakistan.
