Flight Operations Resume at Sheikh Zayed Airport After Nearly Three Years

Commercial flight operations have resumed at Sheikh Zayed Airport in Rahim Yar Khan after being suspended for nearly three years, restoring air connectivity for the region.

The airport welcomed South Air’s inaugural flight from Karachi on Saturday, officially marking the return of scheduled commercial services.

Inaugural Flight Arrives Successfully

The first flight landed on schedule with 72 passengers on board. Airport officials welcomed the passengers as part of a ceremony celebrating the reopening of commercial flight operations.

The resumption of services is expected to make air travel more convenient for residents of Rahim Yar Khan and nearby districts, who have had limited flight options during the suspension period.

Improved Regional Connectivity

The reopening of Sheikh Zayed Airport is expected to strengthen transportation links in southern Punjab by providing easier access to domestic air travel.

The new route also expands the network of South Air, a recently launched private airline that has been increasing services to cities with limited air connectivity.

Boost for Travel and Local Economy

Officials believe the return of commercial flights will improve regional connectivity, support business and tourism, and provide passengers with additional domestic travel options.

The restoration of operations at Sheikh Zayed Airport is considered an important step toward improving transportation infrastructure and economic activity in the region.
