Ireland Women Beat Pakistan in Record T20 Run Chase in Dublin

Ireland Women produced a record-breaking performance to defeat Pakistan by seven wickets in the third match of the women’s T20 tri-series at Castle Avenue, Dublin.

Chasing a target of 177, Ireland completed their highest successful run chase in women’s T20 Internationals with five balls remaining, thanks to strong batting performances from Amy Hunter and Rebecca Stokell.

Pakistan had earlier posted a competitive total after electing to bat first, with opener Muneeba Ali leading the innings with a fluent half-century. She shared useful partnerships at the top and middle order to help Pakistan reach a strong position midway through their innings.

At one stage, Pakistan looked set for a total close to 190, but Ireland’s bowlers staged a strong comeback in the final overs, restricting the scoring rate and taking key wickets at crucial moments.

Despite the strong start, Pakistan lost momentum in the closing stages of their innings and finished with a total of 176 for 6.

In response, Ireland made a steady start before accelerating through key partnerships. Amy Hunter played a major role at the top of the order, while Rebecca Stokell anchored the chase with an unbeaten half-century.

A crucial partnership in the middle overs shifted momentum firmly in Ireland’s favour, allowing the hosts to stay ahead of the required run rate throughout the innings.

Although Pakistan managed to take a few wickets to slow the scoring, Ireland maintained control and completed the chase in 19.1 overs.

The result marked a significant achievement for Ireland Women, highlighting their growing strength in international cricket.

Pakistan will look to bounce back when they face West Indies in their next match of the tri-series on Wednesday.
