Karachi Announces Special Water Supply Plan for Muharram and Ashura

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has prepared a special plan to ensure uninterrupted water supply and proper drainage services during Muharram-ul-Haram, including Ashura.

According to officials, the arrangements have been made on the instructions of Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab and KWSC CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui. Relevant departments have been directed to remain alert throughout the religious period.

As part of the plan, KWSC has instructed staff to complete all water and sewerage maintenance work near mosques, imambargahs, majalis venues, sabeels, and procession routes ahead of Ashura.

The corporation has also directed coordination with district administration, police, and community representatives to ensure smooth facilitation of religious gatherings and processions.

Officials said that water supply will remain uninterrupted during Muharram, while sewerage lines will be cleaned and maintenance work completed in advance. Manholes will be repaired and covered where necessary to ensure public safety.

In addition, jetting and suction machines will be deployed to respond quickly to any emergency situation.

Special duty rosters will remain active during the holidays, while hydrant teams have been assigned to ensure water availability at key religious locations across the city.
