Punjab Food Authority Seals Three Food Businesses During Lahore Crackdown

Lahore, July 6, 2026: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed three food businesses and imposed fines totaling Rs250,000 on two others during a food safety operation carried out in Shahdara, Park View, Railway Road, and surrounding areas of Lahore.

The inspections were part of the authority’s ongoing campaign to enforce food safety standards and protect public health.

Substandard Food Confiscated

During the operation, PFA teams confiscated and disposed of more than 40 kilograms of substandard meat and a quantity of non-compliant Chinese salt, which officials said did not meet food safety requirements.

Authorities stated that the action was taken to prevent unsafe food products from reaching consumers.

Three Food Units Sealed

According to the PFA, the businesses sealed during the operation included:

  • A breakfast restaurant
  • A Sajji outlet
  • A murabba (fruit preserve) manufacturing unit

Officials said these facilities were closed after inspectors identified serious violations of hygiene and food safety regulations.

Restaurant Fined Rs200,000

The authority also imposed a Rs200,000 fine on another restaurant for repeatedly failing to comply with improvement notices issued during previous inspections.

Officials said enforcement measures are taken against businesses that continue to violate food safety regulations despite prior warnings.

Hygiene Violations Found

Punjab Food Authority Director General Syed Musa Raza said inspection teams found several sanitation concerns at the inspected facilities, including unhygienic food preparation areas and poor storage conditions.

According to the authority, such conditions may pose potential health risks if not addressed in accordance with food safety standards.

Food Safety Operations to Continue

The Punjab Food Authority said inspections and enforcement actions will continue across the province to ensure restaurants, food manufacturers, and other food businesses comply with hygiene regulations and provide safe food products to consumers.
