The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed willingness to reduce Test matches from five days to four.

According to British media, the ICC is open to the unique proposal of making Test matches four days long instead of five, but the new change will not apply to India, England, and Australia.

The report states that the proposal to make Test matches four days long is being considered for the 2027–2029 cycle of the World Test Championship. If approved, the new change will take effect from 2027.

British media further reports that the proposal for four-day Test matches has been suggested for smaller Test-playing nations, while Australia, India, and England will continue to play five-day Test matches. Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, the West Indies, and all other teams will play four-day Tests.
